Eta Carina is a musical group that was begun in Asheville, North Carolina in late 2002 by singer Iliana Ramirez and Guitarist/Composer, West Bolz. After putting together some material and networking with local musicians, they played with a band for the first time on July 4th, 2003. From that time they played over 200 shows, and are now preparing their first album and extensive touring for the future.

Carina and West are currently performing with their new orchestra, Orquesta Carolina.

Carina: Joya de Venezuela

After setting the stages on fire in her native Venezuela, Carina has arrived stateside, bringing her electric salsa vocal stylings and exotic dance flavors along. Charisma, energy, and beauty are second only to her talent.

West:

Karl Westin Bolz is from North Carolina and Georgia, where he led the Brazilian band, APENAS ATENAS and played guitar for progressive R&B group, ATOMIC CAFÉ. His experience in a variety of Latin, World, Brazilian and American styles culminates in Eta Carina.

The Name:

Eta Carina is a mysterious nebula in the southern sky of the Milky Way.  Approximately 8,000 light years away, this collossal nebula contains the most powerful star (Eta Carinae) in the known universe.  150 times larger than the Sun, this superstar is 4 million times brighter, emitting ultraviolet laser light into the cosmic sphere.  The nebula is dispersing molecular clouds of DNA at speeds of 600,000 km/hr potentially to evolve life forms and consciousness.  The constellation is named for the oracular, talking prow, or keel, of the giant ship, Argo Navis, the Ark of Jason and his Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece.
